A Message from Our Principal

Welcome to Eastside Elementary School!

As part of our learning community, we invite you to explore our school website. Our website is updated regularly with upcoming information for students, parents, and our Eastside community.

Our staff at Eastside Elementary works as a Professional Learning Community (PLC). We follow the PLC model based on work done by Richard Dufour. All of our teachers and support staff are part of collaborative teams that make decisions based on the impacts on student learning. Our grade-level teams work closely together to establish learning outcomes and plan instruction for students to meet those outcomes. We base our instruction on common formative assessments, which our teachers write, administer, and analyze.

Every grade level has an Intervention and Enrichment (I/E) team, which includes the classroom teachers, Title 1 teachers, special education teachers, and paraeducators. This is another powerful way that we determine the needs of our variety of learners. Through our I/E process we are able to help all students to not only grow towards meeting standards, but also surpass those expectations to develop advanced skills in academic areas.

We understand that in order to meet our school mission: "All students learn and persevere at high levels through student-centered work that is purposefully designed to be relevant and engaging", it requires a collaborative effort between the school and home. Parent/guardian involvement in a child’s education is critical to success in school. You can help maximize your child’s success by doing the following:

  • Make sure your child comes to school every day, on time, and ready to learn.
  • Read with your child every day for at least 20 minutes.
  • Check backpacks daily for homework and notes from school.
  • Keep open communication between yourself and the classroom teacher.

At Eastside, we believe that all students will learn at high levels. We look forward to our continued partnership with stakeholders to ensure student success.

Please take a minute to familiarize yourself with Eastside’s strategic plan.

Yours in Education,

Nick Gallagher
