Our School

At Eastside, we work to instill the love of learning in our students. As educators, we practice what we preach with our own professional enrichment. We are excited to model our enthusiasm for education for our students and our community.

Our Commitment to Literacy

Over the last few years, Eastside staff has worked to develop a literacy framework that we use in our literacy instruction to address students’ learning outcomes and specific student needs. As part of our staff enrichment, we have developed lab classrooms where our colleagues in the district can observe and learn with us as we foster literacy practices within our classrooms.

Last year, we hosted two lab classrooms, one in kindergarten and another in second grade. Observing and reflecting on best practices for literacy instruction has been a tremendous opportunity for our staff and students alike.

S.O.A.R. & PBIS Programs

Safety, Ownership/Responsibility, Attitude, and Respect (S.O.A.R.) is the behavior model we use at Eastside to promote and maximize academic achievement and behavior competence. It is based on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a research-based model in the field of modern education.

We know that when good behavior and good teaching come together, our students excel. As part of the S.O.A.R. Program, we promote clear and consistent guidelines for the behavior we expect in all areas of the school. We recognize students frequently with positive notes and class/grade level awards for modeling exemplary behavior.
